Why teach on the return of Christ?
Why take the time?
Why risk alienating people who hold different views?
Because God's Word has a lot to say about what we are to look for regarding the return of Christ.
Anywhere you go in scripture, any end times passages you look at, what you see repeated over and over again is the call for endurance...
2 Thessalonians 2:13-15 - "But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by God, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. And it was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us."
Matthew 24:13 - "But the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved."
Mark 13:13 - "And you will be hated by all on account of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved."
Luke 21:16-19 - "But you will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, and you will be hated by all on account of My name. Yet not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives."
Revelation 13:10 - "If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.
Hebrews 10:36-39 - "For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. FOR YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY. BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM. But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul."
1 John 2:28 - "And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming."
